PARIS

Today started early in Berlin... at 3:30 AM when Sally's alarm went off on her I-Phone at the wrong time (I must have set it wrong so I can't blame anyone but myself) - it worked out OK actually - gave us a chance to pack properly.
Dietmar arrived at 5:50AM (we were already outside waiting for him) and took us to Heidelburger Platz station. Sally and I then went to the airport on the S-Bahn. We arrived in plenty of time for our8:30 departure of our flight to Paris Orly on Easyjet. At check-in they discovered that we had overweight baggage and promptly charged us 90 Euros...a pain in the arse and I told them so - after we paid and before they handed us our boarding passes they asked if we had any matches or lighters in our luggage (I always pack a lighter for emergencies etc) I, of course, said no...I wasn't about to reveal this fact and then have to unpack and find it before departure.
We boarded our flight and sat in the front (emergency exit) row which was perfect because we had three seats for two of us..a treat on these Southwest type cattle car operations with no seat assignments. The crew advised us that they had just arrived from Paris and it was raining like crazy there so we had that prospect to look forward to....Oh well I thought our weather run of luck had ended. We landed in Paris in brilliant sunshine (much to the crews amazement!) So now we had to take advantage before the rain returned.....I had made reservations at La Ciele in Montparnass on the 56th floor tempting fate that if would be a nice day to enjoy the views...so the power of positive thought actually prevailed today!
We travelled into Paris on the RER to St. Michele and walked to our apartment on Rue Mazarin. After a brief look around it was off to La Ciele for lunch.
To start Sally and I had a glass each of Pommery Champagne,
Then ordered our wine - A Chateau Grand Corbin Grand Cru 1999, which was delicious.
Here is the meal as ordered....
Trevor
Sally
Apple dessert (simple eh!)
Sally and I then enjoyed coffee.

At the end of lunch we walked back to St.Germain via Eglise St. Sulpice and Luxembourg Gardens. Sally took a short nap and I unpacked a little. After an hours rest we walked to the Tour Eiffel and returned via train to St. Michele. Then it was a quick meal at Le Bistro Mazarin just around the corner from the apartment (handy) with a couple of Leffe beer from Belgium (delicious) we tried to order french Beer but was told ..no French Beer.... I am perplexed that a French Bistro in Paris doesn't serve French Beer!
We both shared shrimps, lardon/frisee salad, and coffee with molten chocolate cake. Then back to the apartment at 11:30PM to end blog and upload pictures now we have broadband to do it properly and quickly. By the way if you double click on the small slideshow/picture on the blog it opens up anothjer window which makes the pictures bigger and easier to see and control. OK that's it for today..... after 20 plus hours...good night. I will now try to put up the latest pictures on the blog. If this fails today I'll try tomorrow...
Oh yes....and the Pedometer stats for today were:
Calories Burnt: 473.83 * Miles Walked: 8.13 * Steps: 17,168

Well, you two, it sounds as though you are having fun but I am not so sure about eating "persil". In England we wash our clothes in this product. I am very impressed with the amount of steps you are doing............are you sure you have the correct pace measurement? Achieving 17,000 steps in a day is amazing, especially when you Americans love to drive everywhere. Look forward to seeing you on Thursday night and enjoying the Blogg very much. Happy Birthday Sally x Love Apper
