09:00 hrs - Walked from the Marriott to Norma's At the Parker Meridian for breakfast. Ordering -
Tea for two (English Breakfast Tea)
Freshly squeezed OJ (Trevor only)
Smoothie of the day: Strawberry/Peach
T.revor ordered Waffling Toast and
Sally ordered the Red Berry Rissoto
Both very nice indeed-presentation was fabulous as was the food and service. Recommended for a breakfast in NYC.
Walked from Norma's to Javits (booth late in hall for set-up) so we went on our way to Ground Zero to check on the progress of the rebuild. The huge hole that was there is pretty much filled in now - so much progress since last year at this time. Then Sally wanted wanted to go to Chelsea and look at antiques and so we did just that. Visited a few stores and actually purchased nothing in the way of antiques! Just window shopped but Sally did buy a purse that she can wear on her shoulder and did go Apple and acquired an I-Phone..... Then went back to Javits to set up he booth I some problems but nothing that can't be sorted out first thing in the morning...then went straight to the Union Sqaure Cafe by cab as time was running short to take the subway (always my preference). Arrived at the union Square cafe exhausted after a long day of walking..Immediately ordered a Dirty Vodka Martini and I ordered a Tanqueray and tonic .... So now down to what to eat-
Bibb and red oak leaf lettuce with grated gruyere and Dijon Vinaigrette for both of us then Sally chose the Herb Roasted Amish Chicken with white wine jus, sauteed Wild Mushrooms with greenmarket Arugula and Parmigiano Bread Pudding. I ordered the Pan Roasted lobster with sauteed Chanterelles, savoy cabbage,Fall Squash and sunchoke chips. Also ordered a side of sauteed Broccoli Rabe "Mama Romano Style".... We then decided to go with wines by the glass so we can enjoy other beverages through out the meal. Suddenly I had a thought about consuming alcohol and more rich food and the affects on the body so I decided to check my pedometer for the walking stats of the day...well it seems we walked 8.4 miles - 17,722 steps and burnt 489 calories. Sounds good but don't understand what that all means actually- just know that on this trip anything goes and there are no restrictions as far as food and beverage is concerned! Roll on dessert. Did someone say dessert....well OK then we'll share the USC's Banana Tart with honey-vanilla ice-cream and Macadamia Brittle.
Such a great meal, flavors were fantastic and the service was so professional - haven't has such a good waiter in a long time. Service level A++.
After such a great meal we taxied back to the Marriott Times Square. Final tally for the day on the pedometer is 9.21 miles, 19,446 steps and burned 536.7 calories! Back to our room after 14 hours of New York fun..... That's it for today, more tomorrow. Good night.
